Ballroom Constellation (Washington Heights, 1965)

The scene of Malcolm X’s assassination, onto which a constellation is made from ballistic traces in the stage backdrop. The 8-pointed star has many associations across cultures and faiths, including (but not limited to) the “seal of the prophets” in Islam, and regeneration and redemption in Christianity.
